In August 2023 I had the opportunity to start collaborating with Case Study Coffee Lounge, A local coffee shop owned by William Douglas Co.. This was a new business so there was no exisiting website before this so I was tasked with coming up with the design and going from there. The main goal of this website was to offer a place that user can get to their online ordering and view events that will be happening at the venu (Coffee shop) for each given day.

Project background

I was really excited to work with William on this project because as a woodworker myself I used to watch his videos all the time and I just knew his aesthetic that he went by from watching his videos until that point. I wanted to make sure that the website reflected that same aesthetic that seemed to be him. Knowing that aesthetic combined with my love for woodworking and coffee I knew that this project was going to be a fun one and I was excited to get started.

Concept and Design Approach

The design for the site drew inspiration from the shop’s physical ambiance. Warm colors and clean, structured lines were chosen to create a sense of comfort that matches the feel of the cafe. Vibrant, high-quality images were a key element, featuring their specialty drinks, pastries, and the inviting interior. These visuals provided an immediate sense of what customers could expect when visiting in person.

Key Features and User Experience

A significant focus was placed on ensuring the site was user-friendly and easy to navigate. The menu page was designed to clearly present categories and detailed descriptions, making it simple for users to browse and learn about the shop’s offerings. The intuitive layout and straightforward navigation were essential to delivering a seamless experience.

Highlighting the Shop’s Personality

To add a unique touch and strengthen customer connection, a blog section was incorporated. This space was created for the shop’s team to share updates, stories, and behind-the-scenes looks at their daily operations. This feature added character and provided an avenue for more personal interaction, encouraging visitors to engage with the brand beyond just viewing the menu.

The Outcome

The final product was a visually appealing, functional website that captured the essence of Case Study Coffee Lounge. The new online presence has made it easier for customers to interact with the shop and explore what it has to offer before stepping through the door. This project not only boosted visibility but also deepened the connection with the local community, reinforcing the shop’s brand.

Collaborating on this project was a fulfilling experience, and I’m proud of the site we created. It reflects the shop’s character and has effectively brought the warmth of Case Study Coffee Lounge to a broader audience.
